October Baseball in Baltimore!

YDI would like to congratulate our hometown Orioles for bringing the first A.L. Eastern Division Championship to Baltimore since 1997. The Orioles magical season continued on Tuesday night with a win over Toronto, clinching the division with eleven games still to play. It was the first Division clinching game to take place in Baltimore since 1969.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards was built in 1992, and has hosted the play offs only three times. A disappointing statistic for “The Park That Changed Baseball Forever.” With the Oriole’s rich history and Baltimore’s “sports town” repuation, the fans were getting restless.

The A.L. East has become a tough neighborhood since Camden was built, claiming half of the World Series Titles (11 of 22), all while the Orioles managed 14 straight losing seasons. To fans, things were starting to seem hopeless. How could Baltimore compete against the deep pockets of the Yankees and Red Sox?

Somehow manager Buck Showalter has found the way. He has lead the Orioles to their most commanding division title in their 60 year history, and they show no signs of letting up. There’s still a long way to go, but Baltimore is more than willing to buckle up and see how far this team goes.

Here at YDI our loyalties are spread out over many teams, but no matter who your team is, there’s no doubt that something’s happening in Baltimore right now.
