Glasshouse is located on the site of Pittsburgh’s historic glass factories in the South Shore neighborhood, and its branding pays tribute to the city’s erstwhile title of “America’s Glass City.” The typography of its primary mark is inspired by lettering on glass bottles from the period in which Pittsburgh’s glass factories were active, and is supported by a standalone “G” that alludes to monograms used by various manufacturers from this era of industry. When designing both interior and exterior signage for the building, YDI paid special attention to glass and glass-like materials to carry this historic inspiration throughout the entire project.
