Our goal was to create a symbol that inherently felt like hockey. We focused on the most fundamental elements of the sport, and explored how to pair this imagery with the letters of the league name. To highlight the league’s best asset – its players – YDI developed a mark that features crossed hockey sticks nestled within the letter ‘W,’ drawing focus to the center point of the letterform. The bold simplicity of the final mark makes for a strong, identifiable symbol for the brand and sets it apart from other professional sports leagues.

The PWHL logo has proven to be an instantly iconic and versatile mark, representing women’s hockey for a new era. It has resonated with fans, and been replicated on every medium from hand-drawn posters to official league trophies.
